can you become allergic to something at any time?

been getting hives for a few weeks now, itchy as fuck!! Anyways, went to the doctor and he gave me something like bena-dryl, but by prescription..I take a pill at night and they go away for like a day or 2..anyways I think it's coca-cola, because I drink it all the time and havent eliminated it from my diet..I do plan to though, but were wondering if it could be any ingrediant in the coke even though I have been drinking it for years?

Yeah, you can develop allergies any time. I found this:

You can become allergic to any food, medication, pollen, mold, environmental item, or contact allergen at any time during your life. However, a tendency to allergies is often inherited. If your parents or grandparents have asthma or allergies, your chance of developing allergies is increased.

I have pretty bad allergies. I get shots for them, but I haven't been in a while. You might think about going to an allergy clinic if it gets too bad and see what they think about it.

Thanks. Do you have food allergies or environmental? I plan on doing a diet change first to see what happens, I heard the allergy tests are expensive.(I don't have coverage right now)

I have environmental allergies. The tests are pretty expensive. I think it's around $700, but you only have to get it done once if you stay current on your shots, or unless your shots stop helping you. It's about 15 bucks a shot too. I stopped going because I got married last year, so I'm no longer on my parent's health insurance. I'm about to get my own health insurance though, so I'll be starting back up.

Oh wow, Didn't know you were married. Can I ask why you got married so young? Not that it's a big deal, just curious. To me, personally am leaning against marriage everyday, laws are just so biased towards women imo anyways.

At a risk of sounding cheesy, I've developed an abbreviated theory on how you know what love is. Some people say it's finding the person you can imagine yourself spending the rest of your life with. I say it's finding the person you can't imagine spending the rest of your life without.

I think people do develope allergies on a spurr, sometimes. I recall one year where I sneezed a lot in spring, but got over it.

In middle school, oh 8 years ago or so, I had a ton of crazy allergic reactions, after a year or so they stopped. They were the anaphylactic shock type with numerous ambulance rides, etc... I know when I was little a lot of stuff bothered me, but I grew out of most of it. Now I'm back to not being allergic to anything...except cats...and stupid people. However, when i was little, animals never bothered me, but those little things bother me now :( I'm a dog person anyways
